Sam and Marina Saltonstall have a passion for quality. Their goal is to produce the best and healthiest products from their orchard and vineyard property in the rolling hills of rural Sonoma County.
The 170 acre Saltonstall Estate is located 5 miles West of Petaluma, California. This idyllic spot, just 30 miles North of San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge, has both the climate and the soils to produce the finest quality world-class olive oils as well as premium Pinot Noir grapes.
The sea breezes and the morning summer fog cool the orchard during summer and fall ripening season. This allows the fruit to mature slowly, giving nature time to develop more anti-oxidants, complexity and flavor. Saltonstall Olive Oils are the most flavorful oils you will find.
The American Saltonstall family roots originated in the Massachusetts Bay Colony in the 1600s and have been involved at many levels in trade, business, arts and politics. Today the 15th American generation of the Saltonstalls invite you to sample their fine olive oils.
In 2000, the Los Angeles County Fair in cooperation with the California Olive Oil Council and their panel of tasters introduced an extra virgin olive oil and flavored olive oil competition in conjunction with the wine competition. The competition quickly grew to world stature and is now the largest olive oil comp- etition in the nation. The 2005 competition received 364 oils from 242 producers from around the world.
